A technological masterpiece protected by 14 patents, the Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller provides the information global travellers need to keep track of time at a glance. The Sky-Dweller is a compelling timepiece of revolutionary design that blends to perfection mechanical sophistication and ease of use.

The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, fluted bezel, Twinlock screwed-down winding crown, and downturned lugs are polished/brushed. It has a solid screwed-down case back. The dial is Black with applied white gold Arabic numeral hour markers, and illuminated gold skeleton/baton hands with a center sweep seconds hand. An offset inner chapter ring with a red arrow indicates the 24-hour home time, while the hands can be adjusted for a second timezone and visa-versa. There is a month display with 12 rectangular apertures around the circumrate time setting. It’s a Certified Official Swiss Chronometer (COSC), it’s water resistant to 100ference of the dial that indicate the month by number, and it includes a stop-seconds function for accu meters/330 feet, and it has a 72-hour power reserve at full wind. The 10.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Rolex Sky-Dweller 326139 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 9001 movement that’s rhodium-plated and it’s constructed with 40 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has bi-directional self-winding via a perpetual rotor. There is a monometallic balance that’s adjusted to 5 positions, and a free-sprung self-compensating Breguet balance spring. It includes a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, Microstella regulating screws, and a central hacking mechanism. The rotor oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).

Rolex has been making GMT watches since the 1950s, but this Rolex Sky-Dweller 326139 is their first annual calendar complication to make its debut. The Sky-Dweller annual calendar is based on a mechanism called SAROS - after the Greek term for the 18-year cycle of the sun, earth, and moon that registers both lunar and solar eclipses. Two-gear ratios and four-gear wheels were added to the traditional Rolex date calendar in order to make it a full annual calendar, only requiring re-setting once a year at the end of February.
