Jaeger LeCoultre Q177T47V Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Valentino Rossi Limited Edition
DESCRIPTION

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm, Valentino Rossi  Limited Edition of only 946 in Grade 5 Titanium. Special Carbon Fiber and Yellow Tribute Dial features luminescent numerals and hour markers. On the city disc, certain cities generally representing specific time zones have been replaced by those of the great motor-racing circuits, such as Laguna Seca, Sepang, Mugello and Donington (adjusted via Black PVD-coated Aluminum crown at 10). Local hour and minute hands, trapeze-shaped gold-plated, openworked, luminescent. Crown at 2 controls the alarm function and rapid date correction in counter-clockwise direction. Crown at 4 starts the watch, adjusts time; crown equipped with a compression key. Crown at 10 to display world time, in black anodized aluminum. Double-sided push-piece at 10 to start/stop the alarm. The intricately engraved case-back features the signed number 46 and Rossi’s Signature.

The 46.3mm Grade 5 titanium case is exceptionally lightweight yet remarkably robust, engineered for extreme performance and long-term durability. Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and atomic number 22, widely used in aerospace applications such as jet engines, missiles, and spacecraft, as well as in military, industrial, and automotive engineering. Found in nature only as an oxide, titanium is refined into a lustrous, silver-toned transition metal prized for its low density, high strength, and outstanding corrosion resistance. Its strength-to-weight ratio is the highest of any metallic element, making it an ideal material for a watch designed to withstand demanding conditions while remaining comfortable on the wrist.

This Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Limited Edition is powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 912, a high-performance self-winding mechanical movement engineered expressly for the Extreme World Alarm series. Built to unify a world-time display, date function, and sophisticated alarm system within a single, highly shock-resistant architecture, the movement is a study in purposeful engineering. It is composed of 315 individual components and 28 jewels, and features a unidirectional automatic winding system finished with fausses côtes and engine-turned detailing. A variable-inertia balance and integrated shock-absorbing system reinforce its resilience, while a straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to five positions, and self-compensating flat balance spring ensure consistent precision. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the Calibre 912 delivers stable, confident timekeeping under demanding conditions, perfectly reflecting the Extreme W-Alarm’s mission as a true performance-driven mechanical instrument.

Among its standout complications is a highly specialized alarm system. Unlike traditional Memovox designs where the hammer strikes a stud on the case back, the Calibre 912 utilizes a closed, angled circular gong that surrounds the movement, producing a more resonant and harmonious alarm tone even with a sapphire crystal case back. Alarm activation is controlled via a patented double pushpiece at 10 o’clock with a bistable on/off mechanism for secure operation. The world-time function incorporates a 24-hour ring and rotating city disc, allowing all 24 time zones to be read at a glance. A quickset date function enables rapid date adjustment in a single direction using the crown, a refinement introduced with this generation of movements. The high-tech rotor runs on maintenance-free ceramic ball bearings, while the movement’s overall construction is engineered for extreme shock resistance, featuring a free-sprung escapement and laser-welded hairspring designed to perform reliably under demanding conditions.

What makes this Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Limited Edition so compelling is how seamlessly it fuses extreme mechanical capability with real-world performance DNA. Produced in strictly limited numbers and engineered around a Grade 5 titanium case, the watch delivers exceptional strength with remarkably low weight, a combination normally reserved for aerospace and elite motorsport applications. This is high horology designed to function under pressure, not simply to be admired. The world-time display, advanced alarm system, and shock-resistant architecture come together in a way that feels purposeful and intentional, echoing the precision, timing, and global nature of professional racing. Increasingly scarce and quietly appreciated by informed collectors, this reference represents a moment when Jaeger-LeCoultre pushed its technical boundaries outward, creating a watch that lives comfortably at the intersection of innovation, performance engineering, and serious watchmaking credibility.
