Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “Dark Side of The Moon” Co-Axial Chronograph, Black Zirconium Oxide Ceramic Dial – Black Ceramic on Strap The Speedmaster – “Dark Side of the Moon” The Apollo 8 astronauts were the first people to see the dark side of the moon with their own eyes. The black ceramic Co-Axial Speedmaster salutes their pioneering spirit and pays homage to the Speedmaster Professional chronographs worn by every Apollo astronaut. This timepiece is the product of groundbreaking technologies: it is crafted from a single block of black zirconium oxide ceramic. The OMEGA Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon” redefines the iconic design of the Moonwatch and its name evokes the mysteriousness and allure of space. {ZrO2} – Zirconium Oxide Material The black zirconium oxide ceramic dial is complemented by a matching ceramic 44.25mm case with a brushed and polished ceramic case-body. The two polished ceramic chronograph control pushers on the case function totally independently – accordingly, there is no risk to the chronograph mechanism as a result of inadvertent manipulation. A highly durable, coated nylon fabric strap with red stitching is attached to the case-body with ceramic lugs and is complete with a black ceramic buckle. Altogether, the watch head, fabric strap and buckle weigh just 91 grams.
Deep Space Visibility Super-LumiNova coats the two dots by the 12, the indexes and the 18K white gold hour, minute and chronograph hands ensuring that the wearer can read the time in a variety of lighting conditions. The Tachymeter Scale The matt chromium nitride tachymeter scale – among the most identifiable design features of the Speedmaster – is engraved using state-of-the-art laser technology and stands out from the polished ceramic bezel. “The matt chromium nitride tachymeter scale – among the most identifiable design features of the Speedmaster …”
The Revolutionary Movement Complete with an innovative column wheel mechanism and Si14 silicon balance spring, the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9300 is the first of our exclusive in-house movements to incorporate a chronograph function. The 12-hour and 60-minute counter hands are placed on the same sub-dial at 3o’clock allowing for an intuitive reading of the recorded time and the reliability of the movement.
Unobstructed Views Protecting the prominent dial is a box-form scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The movement powering the timepiece is visible through the beveled scratch-resistant crystal on the case-back.
